CBS Mini-Map Contest #1
Hey people, As promised, here's the new contest. As I said in the other topic this contest will focus on creativity and the real core of mapping: Creating multiplayer based maps that are fun to play together. So here we go, first CBS Mini-Map contest. That's why I want to connect this contest directly with the revival of the Testnight. Battle_LorD_NL and I were so motivated by this idea, that we actually created our own contest submissions. You may take them as examples, use the triggers, the terrain or even the concept in its base and edit it. If you'd like to create everything up from scratch, then you're welcome to do it. (You actually can get full score by editing the attached maps in a creative and positive way!!) The task in short is to create a mulitplayer mini-map with an average round time of not more than 5-10min. Rules
Judging -Creative Gameplay: 50% (How good is the concept working? Is it interesting to play the map? How much do you like the ideas and how well are they worked out?) -Playability: 35% (Is the map fun to play? Would you like to play the game again? Are all roles somewhat balanced?) -Eye Candy: 15% (Is the terrain good? How good are the used effects? Are the models fitting?) I'll post the exact judging guidelines within next week! They'll stick to the points I listed before. The winner will be chosen by a combination of judges (Battlelord/Gatecaster) and participant feedback (check below for more info). Testnight! All maps will be played together in a special contest Testnight, that will be held after the judges are done with their judging. While the testnight, all participants may judge the map that is played and give score according to a judging plan given by me before the Testnight begins. After the map, the score will be send in a PM to me. The results stay anonymous. I'll then count all scores together (I planing to do 60%judges and 40% participants). The date of the testnight and more details will follow soon! Deadline 31.01.2010 (Sunday) 24h GMT+1 (Attach your submission to a post in this topic, send it via pm or e-mail to me or upload it somewhere and post a link in this thread) I hope you like the contest and participate! Every participant will get some motivation rep, just for posting the submission! Gr33tz, Gate[C]aster & Battle_LorD_NL Ps: Battlelord's and mine submissions are of course not completely bug-free as we both had only a few days to do it. We both spend less then 4 hours on it, so don't be too hard on us Last edited by Gate[C]aster; 01-17-2010 at 11:45 AM. |

So basicly your submissions are just examples to make us feel better or get us motivated to beat you.
I'm planning on participating, however i know i always said that before so i will just say i'm probably going to participate. |

No, you can either take it as an example, or you can take the map and edit and overwork it to become a submission of your own. It's up to you.
Hope to see a map of yours |

Zaka...your interest amazes me. Respect, buddy.
Battlelord's map is an alternation of Ninja vs Samurai. Faster game speed and more killin' My map is an assault map...just test it out. Gr33tz GC |

I'll introduce my entry then.
Battle_LorD_NL's Submission: Trolls vs Gnolls Trolls vs Gnolls is a fast-paced action mini-game. We find ourselves in a forest, in which the Trolls and Gnolls are warring over an Acorn. The game consists of the players having either a Troll or a Gnoll, depending on which team you're on, trying to get the Acorn, run it through five checkpoints and then take it back to their base. Succeeding in this will give them the victory. However, if the other team gets a checkpoint, you will have to start all over. Units are killed in 2 hits, but are revived instantly. Trolls and Gnolls both have 2 uniquely different abilities (wowzers, they are probably ripped off wc3 spells O_o. Yeah, that's right, smartass), which can be used to aid them in their making it to the checkpoints or them killing the other team. Game is at its best with 12 players, but should be fun with 6+ too. As long as you play with even teams, it should be fun. |

il give this one a shot, not because i totally like the idea of the contest, since it was supposed to be a bit more like my idea i posted earlier, but because i think we need a contest going, and i want this testnight to be fun.
so expect me to submit something... |
